Is there an unofficial sequel/spiritual successor to Dungeon Keeper?
Yes, War for the Overworld is an unofficial sequel made by true fans of the original games. It was a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2012 and features involvement from Richard Ridings as the voice actor for the Mentor.

Walkthrough

Gameplay Mechanics

  • The entrance tile is always placed farthest from your throne room, so plan your dungeon layout accordingly.
  • Minions have three abilities: attack, grapple, and recovery. Grappling an adventurer immobilizes them until they break free, causing Energy damage each turn.
  • Adventurers take Mind damage after running out of Energy, followed by Lust damage. Reaching maximum Lust does not seem to trigger any special effects.
  • Invest in minion training early on as weak minions will struggle against higher-level adventurers.

Design and Layout

  • Convert straightforward paths into trap rooms to increase the difficulty for adventurers. This can be expensive but effective when done properly.
  • Ensure your dungeon layout is strategically planned to maximize resource efficiency and minimize adventurer progress.

Resource Management

  • Build as many resource rooms as possible on Day 1 to gain an early advantage. Resources are gained daily, so timing is crucial.
